Bus Stop Supervision
S.R. and E.S. are two out of four children who attend school at George M. Murray elementary . They catch the bus to and from the school and attend the child care program offered at Cayoosh. I have had the honor to get to know them a little . Despite early mornings they are resilient and show up with a smile. When the children get on the bus and leave I proceed to head down to the lower playground and proceed to do supervision till the bell rings.
Community Comes in Many Forms
We continued do Origami in this morning . and i did attempt a quick print out color sheet/craft. With the small amount of time that i get present with the children I figured it be ok for a “product craft ” soon . I was on the look out for something with meaning, yet was brief . At the near end of the day Karen Williams community support worker , comes to the classroom to help support L.M. and R.M. Karen’s work is a form of community. She supports the children through play , communication and collaboration with what is going on in the class when she is there. I am not sure if Karen was aware she was supporting the children through the pathways of Wellbeing and Belonging , also through Identities, Social Responsibility, and Diversity. The saying ” it takes a village to raise a child” is very true. We are lucky that the community of Lillooet has these types of resources accessible in our school system.
