This morning I decided to bring out a few random craft items and see put in my resource basket and see where the children took that. I was about to go into practicum seminar with Deb our teacher. I noticed the children are drawn to open ended crafts instead of instructional and product made crafts. While out there talking with Deb in the hall, we discussed that we see a lot of community no matter where we go in the school . So I agreed and decided that community was going to be my goal for the practicum project.
While in the classroom it was a day for power struggles, melt downs, and high emotions. R.M., K.S , L.M. were having a not very good day. Seemed to be a theme in the room that day. There is no “comfy place” to go to when one needs a moment for themselves. The children seem to feed off each other when they have good days and bad days. Today called for extra time from staff and supports . Mr. Alan is a vital role in the classroom to many of those children. I admire how the kids ask him for help or talk to him when they need help or assistance, or need a hug or a hand squeeze.
