Today in Mrs . Destrake’s Class we did some number recognition and figuring out different ways to say and make 5. Was a game where students spun a spinner and made the number with the chips on their own page . The children were quick to learn what added to 5 .
A.D.S
Mr. Alan arranged a fun way to learn about how to make bridges with different materials. One station was Lego , another magnetic panels, and the another type of panel that connects together. This activity had the kids buzzing with excitement! It was a great way to learn and use the gross and fine motor skills to build and create
Kayden is a hands on learning kind of guy. He excels and is able to be more engrossed in his learning when it comes to building . It gives him the opportunity to play and learn away from a desk and gives chance to think outside of the box.
There are more students who participate in the after school program. I was finally able gain some trust from Will. Being the new kid on the block it took a bit for me to figure out how to connect to Will. I asked him while out on the playground if he wanted to play tag with me ? We played tag and laughed and ran , and ran. Was a great time. I had such a wonderful day meeting kids and making new connections with new peers in the program.
Early Learning Framework
Today’s E.L.F. is situated around Well-being and belonging . Taking the time to get to know a student that have neuro-divergent gifts and finding out what brings Will out of his shell. I found out that my friend Will has a love for board games and is more interactive in small groups. So I will be challenging him at a game that is in the aftercare program within the next few days . Also with the children in Mrs. Destrake’s class where doing building in A.D.S they got to be involved with the others, materials, and the world also in their class teachings today. The children learned about experimenting with materials to see which was able to build a bridge more effectively and with creativity. Was neat to see more than one section in the E.L.F. be used today.
Good for you Patti to find a way to connect with a child in the program. Sounds like you have a developed a new relationship with him. Keep up the good work!
